The Pool Is Open (and so is the grill)

Just wanted to share what's going on here as we begin Summer Vacation! We opened the pool on Saturday and we are loving it! We have been using the grill a bit as well!
Chicken Monterey

Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Tenders
Grill slow until done. Cover in BBQ sauce of your choice.
Add precooked bacon slices or fry bacon until crisp and add to top of chicken.
Sprinkle cheese of your choice. Let cheese melt and serve.

I served this with corn on the cob from the grill, baked potatoes, home made mac n cheese and crescent rolls! YUM!

Anybody want a piece of apple pie and some ice cream? :)

Hope your enjoying Summer Break with your family!

Isaiah Turns 13

Isaiah turned 13 this week! Wow 13! We had his party last weekend....

We had his party at a local church where they have a large gym and fellowship area which is perfect for boys his age! We had atleast 50 in attendance and partied from 3 til bout 10:30. We had a chicken tray from Walmart, chicken salad sandwiches, buffalo chicken dip (recipe in a bit), chips and dip, vegetables and dip, fruit, pasta salad, potato salad, vegetable rolls, marinated vegetables, cake, icecream etc.
We ate, had cake and ice cream, opened presents, played basketball, played kick ball, and volleyball!

As our children grow and mature I have to make sure that I treat them age appropriate in certain areas...Isaiah just wanted a simple party and his gifts to be MONEY$$! Well, he got money, but from my parents he got dress clothes after all youth camp is right around the corner Hmmm?? They also got him cologne. We got him a Bible! (and a few more items) He had a small one but it was wore out...this one he can study with. He loves it! I am thankful.
All of these festivities took place on the day of his party and the following are from his BIRTHDAY!!

My Mom and Dad brought him the cookie cake! It's kind of a tradition. Isaiah was born at 2:47 p.m. and I took this picture at that exact time!
His birthday was our first day out of school....so that was a present in itself!! We took some pictures at home and gave him a special present. A tool box with his own tools and a card from me and a special letter from daddy about the tools and how to apply them to his christian walk and becoming a young man!!

To the parents reading this who are raising boys we recommend this book: Raising A Modern Day Knight by Robert Lewis

So, Isaiah got to pick out where we went to eat...Mexican. Imagine that? So, we went to eat and it was YUM! Gotta love the hat! A little fried ice cream and off to Cumberland Falls.
Had a great time at the falls! It's fabulous that we have such a beautiful place to visit just right down the road! We enjoyed celebrating Isaiah's birthday! Stay tuned for School Awards Ceremony, Micah's Kindergarten Graduation and more :)

EMERGENCY and a MIRACLE

I was hoping to post Isaiah's birthday party or something else nice for my next post but I have a story to tell.....Last Friday our crew along with some family and friends went riding. Sounds easy enough!! Well, around dark James calls me to pick Isaac up and so of course I want to know why?? When I get to them Isaac was throwing up on the side of the road. He doesn't throw up EVER!!

So, he had gotten hot, drank too much, was tired....okay but he had a wreck on his bike....just a tiny bruise it's all good! He had his helmet, gloves, and boots on!? He
rested okay, then the next day we had Isaiah's birthday party (he's sore but ok), rested good again, church Sunday and in more pain! My anxiety level is building!! So, by Sunday night we decided something was up and on Monday I take him to the Dr. They sent us for a CT Scan and he has fractured his spleen.... the bottom of his stomach is full of blood! EMERGENCY!

To make a long story short the CT technician knew immediately when the scan took a picture. The Dr. calls a Pediatric Surgery Team at UK hospital, Isaac is starting to figure it out and I'm falling apart. Did I mention that I was at the Dr. with 3 children and James is out of town working with no cell service??

While Isaac was riding on Friday he had a simple spill on his dirt bike..the handle bar came back and hit him right in the area of the spleen..it left a quarter size bruise. Since the bruise was so small there was no reason for us to immediately think he was badly injured.

He was being scheduled for an emergency splenectomy!!!! I turned around to the hall and an EMT crew was there with a stretcher!! I took the pic above while about ten people were working on him, talking to me and I am BOOHOOING BIG TIME!

Some good friends of ours took Isaiah and Micah and drove me to the hospital. I was so appreciative!

They took him by ambulance to the hospital here to prep for surg. and await the next chopper. Due to bad weather and a bad accident we were taken by ambulance!!

MIRACLES START TO HAPPEN!! Isaac and I are in the ER while they are trying to get us transported and Isaac looks over at me. With big tears from those big blue eyes he says "mommy I don't want them to take it out!" I said  "well Isaac you tell the Lord that!"

We started praying! (GOOSEBUMPS) I laid my hand right where is spleen is and he prayed and I said something like "Lord would you please move on Isaac's behalf? I know you can do it Lord! I know he doesn't have to have surgery cause you can touch him!" (MORE GOOSEBUMPS) I still kinda had my head bowed and the Dr. came in smiling!! He said that we still needed to get Isaac to UK fast but that things were looking good! (GLORY)

So, our friends finally found someone to contact James. He called and headed this way. We loaded in the ambulance and headed to UK. It was a rough ride and raining awful, but the Lord gave Isaac peace and he rested almost the whole way! Peace came to me....Peace that passes all understanding!!

The EMT that rode in the back with Isaac and myself got a text message from the prayer chain at his church.....requesting prayer for....Isaac!! So, we got there and the tech who met us told me that we were initially listed as a trauma but we were not in the trauma area of the ER!! UK is a university hospital and so we saw 100 MD's and 50 Students :) U know what I mean!

We had company immediately and prayers were going up everywhere! They started telling us that things were looking good and he was NOT gonna have to have surgery!! He was admitted and had to have extensive blood work and before midnight his internal bleeding had STOPPED!!

He rested good and what time James and I rested was good rest! So, Isaac woke up and had TWO bowls of cereal and within a short time the Dr's confirmed that all was well and that he could eat and walk around!!

The head pediatric surgeon showed me his CT scan that we had before leaving and he showed me how badly damaged his spleen was and where the blood was floating in his lower abdominal cavity! He showed me how there was nothing else damaged and that he would be just fine!We were dismissed with normal bloodwork and home by 5:30 Tuesday!
Today the Nurse Practitioner who first saw Isaac called my cell phone! She was worried about him! When I told her the report she was amazed and said it had to be a GOD THING!

We serve a merciful, awesome, all powerful GOD! Amazed and Thankful!!Here is Isaac going home in his PJ's :)

I want to say that we are so appreciative of the overwhelming support we received from friends and family! If you called, prayed, texted etc we want to thank you from the bottoms of our hearts! We love each and every one of you!!

God Is Good!

Graduation Banquet

Last night our church hosted a Graduation Banquet. This banquet and ceremony is primarily for the large home school group that we have within our church. Our children on the other hand are not home schooled and attend the Christian School in our town. (I don't take it lightly either for I see it as a HUGE blessing)!!  Everyone is invited to participate tho! So, Micah being a Kindergarten graduate this year participated with two of his friends!  We had 3 Kindergarten, 2 Eighth Grade, 3 Highschool, and 1 College graduate.
Micah wore the cap and gown that Isaac wore at the same banquet when he was in Kindergarten. I did buy the sash and tassel tho. We had a large crowd, special speaker, slide show, grandmas and grandpas and of course dinner afterwards.
Micah posing with his buddies! Did anyone besides me notice that they are all GIRLS!:)

Each graduate had their own table at the fellowship hall. I decided to do Micah's table in a western theme.

I placed give away pictures on the table, a lasso rope, tin bucket with bandana for the cards, tin bucket with bandana with candy for the guests, Micah's cowboy hat etc. Dinner consisted of the all American cookout...Hotdogs, hamburgers, fish (YUM!), baked beans, potato salad, pasta salad, desserts and drinks!!

Micah will graduate from school next week, but I think it is so important to be involved with your friends and with your church! He knew that this was fun for him, but for his home school friends it was for real! We enjoyed it so much and appreciated the opportunity!! Stay tuned for a Big birthday bash and School festivities.....

Here are a few pics from when Isaac was in Kindergarten. His memory board was the alphabet! I went thru the whole alphabet on his board and used primary colors... I still have it! I used his board at the banquet and at his birthday party after that!
For all of you younger mothers than me....make sure to take those grandmas advice when they tell you that your baby's won't be baby's long! It is very true!

Celebrate every day!

Cowgirl Birthday

Last night we celebrated Caitlyn's Birthday! Caitlyn will be 11 on Monday and she has recently been diagnosed with cancer. One of her wishes was to ride a horse and ride she did! We celebrated a Cowgirl Birthday with her! She was so surprised!!
My friend Stephanie and I put the whole thing together and it went over nicely! We had a simple menu with hot dawgs, tater chips, tater salad, cowgirl beans, cake and ice cream!!
Caitlyn's favorite colors are pink and purple so we decorated our friends farm/park with a cowgirl theme. The gazebo was decorated with paper flowers ( got to make those twice now) and balloons.
My friend Heather made the cake as a gift and it was beautiful! Thanks Heather!
We left the picnic tables bare and had peanuts in small tin buckets and pink boots on the tables! We also had stick horse races at the "pony corral"!

The boys hadn't had a chance to ride in a while so they got their fill as well! They  rode "Major" and "Samson".

I am always looking for the perfect picture opportunity and so I caught one!!
Love it!!  So, we partied for several hours!! We had some cute games, a bonfire, fishing, cake and presents!

We had such a wonderful celebration! Caitlyn was all smiles! Don't forget to remember her when you pray!!

Happy Birthday Caitlyn!!
and
Happy Mother's Day To All of You Mother's!
